Day 1 – Nairobi to Samburu
Your journey begins with an early morning pick-up from your hotel or the airport in Nairobi. After a short introduction by one of our team members, you’ll head north, passing through landscapes filled with coffee, tea, and pineapple plantations in Kenya’s central region. You’ll continue past the base of Mount Kenya, the second tallest mountain on the continent, and travel through small towns and villages. By early afternoon, you’ll arrive at Samburu National Reserve and check in at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch. After a short rest, you’ll go out for an afternoon wildlife drive, returning to your accommodation by sunset.
Day 2 – Samburu National Reserve
Begin the day with an early morning game drive, then return to the lodge for a late breakfast. Enjoy some leisure time at the lodge facilities followed by lunch. In the afternoon, you’ll head out again to explore more of the reserve. Optionally, you may visit a local Samburu village. The Samburu people share some cultural traits with the Masai, but their traditions and way of life also feature unique differences. The reserve includes scattered woodlands, dry open spaces, and forested areas along the Ewaso Ng’iro River. Wildlife in this region includes the so-called Samburu “Special Five”: the Gerenuk, Grevy’s Zebra, Reticulated Giraffe, Somali Ostrich, and Beisa Oryx, all species found only north of the equator. You may also encounter lions, elephants, leopards, buffaloes, antelopes, and other animals.
Day 3 – Samburu to Lake Nakuru National Park
After breakfast, depart Samburu and drive south to Lake Nakuru National Park, located at the base of the Great Rift Valley. Along the way, you’ll stop at a scenic viewpoint to capture panoramic images of the valley and nearby landmarks, including Mount Longonot. You’ll arrive at Lake Nakuru in time to check in and have lunch at your camp or lodge. Later in the day, set out for a game drive through the park. Lake Nakuru, rich in algae, attracts thousands of flamingos and other waterbirds. If conditions allow, you may also spot lions, cheetahs, leopards, buffaloes, black and white rhinos, and many other animals and birds.
Day 4 – Lake Nakuru to Masai Mara
Following breakfast, check out and head toward Masai Mara. You’ll arrive at your lodge or tented camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon, explore the grasslands of Masai Mara during a wildlife drive. These outings offer a raw and emotional connection to the environment, with each drive presenting something different. After the outing, return to your accommodation for dinner and overnight stay.
Day 5 – Masai Mara
After breakfast, set out for a full day of exploration in the open plains of Masai Mara with a packed lunch. This reserve remains an excellent wildlife destination throughout the year and supports a wide variety of species. You may come across lions, elephants, rhinos, leopards, buffaloes, hyenas, antelopes, baboons, and numerous bird species. It is not uncommon to see several of the Big Five in just a few hours. Between July and October, large herds of wildebeest, zebras, and other animals move through the area. A cultural visit to a Masai village can be arranged for a small additional fee. In the evening, return to your lodge or camp for dinner and overnight. You may also choose to book a hot air balloon ride with a bush breakfast at an added cost, followed by more wildlife viewing during the day.
Day 6 – Masai Mara to Lake Naivasha
After breakfast, depart Masai Mara and make your way to Lake Naivasha, situated at the base of the Great Rift Valley. You’ll arrive in time for check-in and lunch at your selected lodge or camp. Later, enjoy a boat ride on the lake, where you’ll see hippos in and around the water, and possibly spot African Fish Eagles hunting along the lake’s surface.
Day 7 – Lake Naivasha to Amboseli National Park
After breakfast and check-out, begin your journey to Amboseli National Park. The route will take you through several towns and local communities. You’ll arrive at Amboseli in time to check in and have lunch. The park is known for its large elephant herds and its clear view of Mount Kilimanjaro. In the afternoon, head out for a wildlife drive and return to your lodge or tented camp by sunset for dinner and overnight.
Day 8 – Amboseli
Start the morning with an early game drive across the park. Return to your accommodation mid-morning for breakfast and time to rest, followed by lunch. In the afternoon, go back out for more wildlife viewing. You may see elephants, rhinos, big cats, buffaloes, and many bird species. If preferred, a full-day drive with a picnic lunch can be arranged. Return in the evening for dinner and overnight.
Day 9 – Amboseli to Nairobi
Begin your final day with an early morning drive in the park. You’ll return to your lodge mid-morning for breakfast and check-out. From there, depart for Nairobi, with a few short stops along the way. Arrival in the city is expected in the afternoon. Lunch will be at your own arrangement before your transfer to the airport for your international departure.
